This year, on my kids' birthdays, I'm going to write what I remember when each of my babies were born. First, to my sweet Hadley girl:
We went into the hospital early on a Sunday morning. I could tell you were getting big and I had braxton-hicks contractions for 3 months. You wouldn't let me breathe at night, your legs and bum were scrunched up under my ribs, pressing on my lungs with each contraction. When they started my labor you were ready to go. They gave me medicine so I didn't feel a thing. You came out in three good pushes and the doctor put you right on my tummy. You didn't cry very much, but your eyes were wide open. I remember looking at your face and thinking, "Really? Are you sure she just came out of me?!" I couldn't believe it. I think I was in shock. Your daddy had the best reaction to your arrival. While they were wiping you clean he kissed me, then lay his head by my side and bawled. I'd never seen him cry like that. We brought you home the next day and sat on the couch with you in our arms and cried some more. We were in awe of the miracle you were and had intense feelings of love that only a parent could feel for a child. We felt angels in the room while we held our new baby girl.
