We went on a full-on vacation!

Since having children, Tony and I had yet to take a big trip with them. We were a little afraid to embark on such an endeavor. We had a good four years of our marriage to take off at a whim and not worry about much. Now with the kids, much more planning and prep must be made. We decided Sea World was a good idea. I would run a race, then we would have fun at the beach and see the sea life.
The trip down went smooth until midnight in Arizona. After crossing the AZ border, we ran into a line of cars at a standstill waiting for an accident to be cleared off the two lane highway. We were stationary on the freeway for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS! When the car stopped the kids were up for the duration of that time! To put it lightly, that was hell. But seriously, the rest of the traveling with the kids went perfect. We are so proud of our little troopers. They really were the best on the vacation and we had so much fun with them.
I ran my race and vowed to NEVER run a full marathon. Maybe I'll even go for 10Ks from now on. My muscles were sore at mile 3, and by mile 9 I walked, then jogged, then walked, then jogged. I walked a lot. I forgot my iPod too. I know, poor me. I met Tone and the kids almost 2 hours after I finished, but that is a whole other story we would like to forget.
But after that we were on vacation! Here comes the onslaught of pictures......
After the run

Kids first time at the ocean

Seeing the Vegas lights at 1:00 in the morning

Washing the sand out of her hair in the sink because there was no tub in the Vegas hotel

They got to stay in a castle!

Way to go on the race, Meg! I HATE when I forget my Ipod, so I can almost imagine how mad I'd be on the day of a race :) We just got home from our CA trip too - let's get together soon! Love ya!

What is it about vacations! Must be the change in environment and seeing new things. Congrats on the run. I probably agree that it would be better to just run for fun, this marathon stuff is a killer. But it does look like you all just relaxed and enjoyed it. That is the way. Don't get caught up in doing everything a certain way because it won't happen like that. Even sitting on the freeway in the middle of the night for 4 1/2 hours will become a good memory because the sun was not shining!

did you do the log ride and touch the sting rays and dolpins? So much fun stuff there!
